CrossFit Kids Certification
My love for Crossfit was instant. For years I had several friends from other areas that had joined Crossfit boxes. They invited me to get out and find a local box and just give Crossfit a try. Most of them had “drank the Crossfit cool-aid” as they say and assured me it was my kind of lifestyle. I hesitated to give it a try because they used words like snatch, jerk, EMOM and AMRAP, all these were super foreign and intimidating to me. Even though I grew up as an athlete and spent the majority of my life in a gym or on a playing field in competitive sports, I was never blessed with the experience Crossfit style training brings. After college my life got busy with family. Raising 4 small children consumed my time and body. Finally after my final child was born I decided it was time to take my body back and find myself again mentally and emotionally. I joined a small local fitness gym and began taking group fitness style classes. I enjoyed the feeling of having a group of individuals that were there to push you and to keep you accountable for showing up and putting in the work. After a short time I was asked to get certified to teach the very classes I was enjoying. I loved teaching group fitness for 7 years and saw a change in my body but found that I was limited in the types of movements I did and became very bored with the repetitive nature of the “globo gym” style classes. I finally decided I would give Crossfit a shot and see what it was all about. After my first week of Crossfit I was hooked. Crossfit brought a renewed excitement for fitness. I find that I push myself harder and further then I had in the past. Setting new Personal Records and working on Olympic lifts that I was once foreign too keeps the excitement in my training.
Having an amazing support group and box family at Natural Selection has not only inspired me but my children as well. My children are eager to go to the box and are excited about their own personal fitness largely because of the members that support and encourage them. I’m just starting my coaching adventure in Crossfit and hope to add many more certs to help the members at the box, young and old, achieve their goals.
